Background
An overseas manufacturer planned to introduce a microcurrent device into China. The product involved pulsed current, electrode contact and wellness purposes, requiring an imported-product regulatory-status determination.
Regulatory Challenges
- Microcurrent can overlap with neuromuscular stimulation, rehabilitation and treatment uses
- The overseas instructions and proposed China purpose followed different language and regulatory logic
- Parameters, control software, electrodes and test evidence needed to form a complete evidence chain
Project Work
Basic Law organised the overseas manufacturer’s dossier, representative authorisation, operating principle, parameter ranges, use method and supplementary testing, and managed the NMPA classification-determination project.
Key Insight
An imported product cannot simply copy its overseas market positioning. Before entry into China, it needs a China-specific product definition, intended purpose, instructions and evidence system.
