A small current value is often used to argue that a microcurrent device is non-medical. There is no universal rule under which one maximum-current number automatically determines classification. The stimulation method, interaction with the body and intended purpose are equally important.

3. Purpose guides the route
Products intended for disease treatment, pain relief, rehabilitation, compensation of muscle function or clear regulation of physiological processes are more likely to enter medical-device analysis. A daily-care position for healthy users must still match the real output and claims.
4. Common inconsistencies
Examples include a low-current file with a stronger production program, surface-use instructions with muscle-training guidance, or overseas treatment documents that disappear from the Chinese file. These conflicts weaken credibility.

- Measure real output, not only chip specifications.
- Test different loads and levels.
- Define electrodes and the body circuit.
- Analyse every program and purpose.
- Complete necessary safety and purpose verification.
- Align manufacturer, filing, production and marketing versions.
No device should be declared non-medical solely because it is below a chosen microampere value.
