Describing Non-medical Assessment Progress in a Distributor Brochure

A brochure should state the current stage accurately.

A brochure should state the current stage accurately. The Chinese search terms “non-medical certification” and “non-medical notice” should be understood through medical-device classification and the exact wording of the relevant document. They do not describe a general product-safety certification. This article concerns evidence preparation and business decisions; it does not establish that any particular device has received a decision not to be regulated as a medical device. Assessment, document preparation or pending clarification must not become “certification obtained”. Distributors need a project status that makes uncertainty understandable, not a vague assurance that all paperwork is complete.

Facts to establish

Distinguish a project under assessment from one with established grounds. Product status, use settings, effects and delivery dates in launch materials must reflect the current stage. Application receipt, consultant opinions and test reports must not be presented as completed “non-medical certification”.

How to move the project forward

Prepare a public-facts record: confirmed functions, uses still being checked and information restricted to internal discussion. Marketing can build demonstrations and channel answers from this record, with engineering and regulatory review of statements about effects. Update all channel versions when the plan changes.

An internal sales target is not evidence for an external promise. Discussions and evidence preparation may continue, but the permissibility of specific importing, selling or other operations requires separate review of product status and applicable requirements. A possible future decision cannot justify statements or deliveries already made.

Decision boundaries

Separate progress from feature descriptions and distinguish existing evidence from unresolved conclusions. Use one approved question sheet and explain result or sales-status questions through actual documents. Do not hide limitations in unreadable small print to fit a design.

For a concrete assessment, collect the model, current instructions, intended scenario and unresolved questions. Separate verified facts from assumptions before prioritising documentation, verification or actual product changes. An individual assessment does not replace a formal decision or guarantee an outcome, completion date or acceptance by every sales channel.

This article provides general compliance information and cannot replace a formal assessment of a specific product. Regulations, classification catalogues, guidance, and enforcement practice may change; each project should rely on the rules then in effect, the actual product, and formal documents.
