How to Determine the Regulatory Route Before Importing a Beauty Device into China

An import project is not simply a translation of the overseas manual. The manufacturer, Chinese agent and actual sales version must establish one verifiable set of product facts.

Before asking which certificate is needed, define the exact functions, parameters, name and manner of use planned for China. A CE mark or commercial status in another market does not replace China’s product-status assessment.

1. Freeze the proposed Chinese version

A brand may use different models, handpieces, software and energy ranges in different countries. The Chinese agent and manufacturer should confirm the full model, unit, accessories, output levels, software version, target users, setting and Chinese intended use. A low-energy Chinese description cannot coexist with an imported unit that still contains overseas treatment programs.

2. Review all overseas statements

Review manuals, websites, brochures, test reports, risk files, training materials and registrations in other markets. Terms such as treatment, rehabilitation, inflammation, tissue remodelling or drug delivery may affect the Chinese assessment. The agent should not delete core functions without manufacturer approval.

3. Typical documents

  • Manufacturer evidence and authorization.
  • Model and specification mapping.
  • Original instructions and Chinese translation.
  • Mechanism, output and software description.
  • Images, videos and body-contact information.
  • Proposed Chinese instructions and claim boundaries.
  • Necessary tests and signed manufacturer records.

4. Manufacturer cooperation

Delays often come from missing parameters, refusal to correct conflicting claims, slow signatures or disagreement between the overseas technical team and the Chinese commercial team. Confirm a fixed technical contact before the project starts.

5. Stop conditions

Pause if core parameters are withheld, the production version cannot be confirmed, departments provide contradictory information, or the Chinese business plan depends on hiding overseas functions.

The Chinese route should be based on the real manufacturer version, not a separate filing version.
